We were lined up to do a Romance Book Review for L.A. Fiore’s new book Beautifully Forgotten (Beautifully Damaged series), but somehow things got a little screwball and we didn’t get our advance copy… sooo

Since we LOVED her first book in the series SOOO much (that’s Beautifully Damaged (Beautifully Damaged series)) we thought we’d give her and the new title a shout out just the same.

If you’ve never explored one of L.A. Fiore’s books, we highly recommend them. Beautifully Damaged was fast-paced, a tiny bit dark in just the right ways and ranks super high on the hotness scale.

It was nice and steamy, pretty explicit, without being over the top. The hero, super-hot Trace Montgomery is dealing with some potent demons from his past and the heroine, Ember Walsh just can’t seem to shake him, even though her own issues come screaming to the forefront as they try to build a solid foundation for a relationship.

The scenes are vivid… even though we enjoyed it months ago, the names, images, places and character experiences are still powerfully with us.

Take a few minutes and check out both of these books. The lead in the second book, Beautifully Forgotten, is one of Trace’s best friends, super sexy and uber rich, Lucien Black. We can’t wait to dig into this one!

Romance Book Reviews: Waking Up Married
by Mira Lyn Kelly

Delightful!

If you’re looking for a delightful, fun read with just the right amount of hot ‘n spicy sexiness, this book is the right one for you. We loved everything about it (except maybe the title, which almost made us not get it) from the story line to the conflicts to the romps in bed. The chemistry was great and things moved along at a quick pace. If you’re looking for some great beach reading for a hot July day, grab this on your Kindle or eReader and enjoy.

Romance Book Reviews

Sinfullyby Leighton Riley
(Warning: Age 18+ only due to mature subject matter and strong sexual content)

Story (4.5 of 5 stars)

This book starts out fast-paced from the get go with the main male character, Ryder, expressing frustration about not finding authors worthy of his publishing company’s name. He takes action to find an author of the one book he does want to publish, a book of erotic interludes in Las Vegas written by a mysterious woman named Reese who refuses his inquiries about publishing her book.

As he tries to find Reese, he meets the alluring Payton and almost immediately finds her as irresistible as the author he is seeking. Payton finds him equally as intriguing, but freaks out and runs from him, too scared to allow herself the feelings she’s experiencing. She finds she can’t return to her previous form of ‘escape’, and everything becomes even more complicated by a stalker who has figured out Payton’s true identity as the sexy author Reese.

I quickly connected to the main characters, and was intrigued by their lives. Ryder’s intensity in both his work and personal life grabbed my attention, as did Payton’s intriguing alternate lifestyle of finding hot men for short-term and intensely physically fulfilling relationships in Vegas. By the end I was sorry to finish reading and found myself missing the characters and wanting to know what happens with them as their lives continue (always a sign that the story grabbed me).

Hotness Factor (3.5 of 5 stars)

There are quite a few very hot moments in this book. The sex scenes are straight-up and explicit. I would have given this section 4 stars, but there was a little less build up and visceral engagement in the scenes than I have found with other favorite books. That being said, I found the scenes seriously hot and liberally included throughout the book (which is better than those books that only seem to have one… :- ) ).

The characters thoroughly enjoy their sex lives and are very forthright, speaking about sex openly and regularly. If that type of straight-talk is not for you, this may not be a good fit. I found it fun and refreshing… and occasionally eye-brow raising (in a good way).

Writing (3 of 5 stars)

The writing is decent, and while sometimes a bit choppy it doesn’t interfere with enjoying and following the story. Written in the first person, chapter by chapter we switch back and forth between Ryder and Payton. That was an exciting way to follow what was happening and gave me a deeper understanding of the characters motivations and struggles. There were a couple of instances where the changes in motivation weren’t completely believable, but the story carried me through those moments without too much concern. Occasionally it read a little like a play-by-play and therefore felt a little stiff.

Overall (3.5 of 5 stars)

Overall, I would definitely read another book by Leighton Riley, in fact I absolutely intend to read the follow up book to this one that follows the story of one of the minor characters, Tristan, the best friend of the hero, Ryder. I recommend this book as a fun, fast story with hot sex liberally sprinkled throughout.

Rating (3.5 of 5 stars)

I give this book a solid 3.5 of 5 stars and know that as Leighton Riley continues writing her books will get better and better. The hardest part to capture, a great story, is solidly and excitingly in place. As she continues to write er work will go up and up and up. I look forward to MUCH more!

Sin-cerely :- ),

She played the game by her own rules…until he changed them…

Payton wrote a self-published book regaling her encounters with men while visiting Las Vegas. To her horror, life changes in more ways than one when someone finds out her true identity.

Ryder, a successful publisher, is determined to find and sign Reece Edwards. Using what little information he can find on her, he sets out to find her, feeling it will definitely be worth the chase.

While on his search for Reece, Ryder meets Payton and the chemistry is explosive. Payton has done well with not allowing anyone to get close to her, but something is different with Ryder. Ryder can’t get Payton out of his head, but he is still on his mission to locate Reece.

With two tragic pasts, Payton and Ryder each have demons to overcome. Will they be able to put those demons to rest or will it be all for nothing?

I hadn’t felt so alone in a while. Vegas was usually the place where I felt at peace and didn’t have to deal with any of the bullshit that had occurred over past twenty-four hours. I took the hottest shower I could stand to wipe myself clean of the day, followed by a luxurious bubble bath while I drank the bottle of Moscato I had bought to be shared with someone other than myself. I submerged myself under the water, holding my breath for as long as I could while I floated back to the top. It felt liberating being able to only hear the roar of the water, without noises from the real world getting through. I must have repeated the process six or seven times until it lost its fun. I didn’t want to go home and I didn’t want to stay there. Both places reminded me of Ryder. I can’t believe he ruined Vegas for me. I had no idea where I would go the next day.

After the water started to turn lukewarm, I hopped out and air dried as I packed my bags. It felt nice to walk around my room, feeling the air against my cool skin. I was high enough that no one would see me when I walked close to the windows and the feeling of possibly being seen was highly erotic. I was packing my heels in my bag when there was a weak knock at the door. Turning suddenly, I had to wonder if it was meant for my door or maybe I was hearing someone knock next door.

I threw on a t-shirt and thong and stepped closer to the door. Just as I got on my tippy toes to see through the peep hole, I heard and felt another knock. Looking through the hole, I saw Tate walking away from my door. I opened the door without another thought and followed him, tapping on his shoulder.

Tate stopped, turned toward me, and then looked back at my door. “Were you planning on going back out like that?” He had a hint of amusement in his eyes.

“No, I heard you knock and threw the first thing I saw on to see who it was.”

“So you weren’t dressed?” His smile was full force.

“I was just packing to leave and hadn’t decided what to wear for the rest of the night. Why aren’t you with whore-face?” I didn’t need to tell him I wasn’t sure when I was leaving or where I was going. I hadn’t quite figured it out.

“Ahh, the more important question is how you’re going to get back in your room, doll. Seeing you strut downstairs to the front desk with your tight little ass peeking out from under your very thin t-shirt might gather even more looks than you and Tyler got on the casino floor earlier. You do know he’s getting married tomorrow, right?”

12. I always bake cookies for road trips… a lot of them

13. I HATE beer

14. Brisket tacos are the shit

15. I’m tempted to move to Austin just so I can go to Gourdoughs whenever I want

Texas born and raised, I found my love for dirty books rather recently. I work in real estate for my normal job and I write contemporary romance. I love sweet tea (made right!), cookie cake, and anything with chocolate and peanut butter.

I have a few guys at my gym that are my TDF’s (tall, dark, and fuckable) but also have a HSB (Hot Sauna Boy), because let’s be honest, they’re my motivation while I’m there! I go to Las Vegas often but I swear I don’t have as much fun as Payton does. Although, if I found myself a Tate there, I might change my opinion!

Authors such as Katy Evans, SE Hall, Angela Graham, Jasinda Wilder, and Jillian Dodd have been a large influence on me and I’m forever grateful. I decided to write Sinfully on Black Friday in November 2013, on a whim. I thought I’d get bored after a few pages but was captivated by the characters and it developed into something I am truly proud of. Sinfully will be the first of three in its series, but they will be able to be read separately if desired.

When it comes to book boyfriends, I love those who are strong but with a little imperfection or tragedy in their past (Remy, Kellan, Q, Twitch are just a few of my favorites). I LOVE talking to my readers so feel free to message me on Facebook. ♥

This is one of our favorite videos on YouTube…

It has the ability to bring us to tears and lets us see just how small and yet how incredibly blessed and lucky we are at the same time.

If you’ve never watched it, take a few moments and watch it now. It’s brilliant.

Romance book reviews:

Follow You Down (Reflect Me Book 2) by K.B. Webb

Warning: 18 and older due to adult content

Synopsis (from Amazon)

Dani Hartley is running from heartbreak and shame. She needs a new beginning, a fresh start with no commitments or attachments. What she definitely doesn’t need is a gorgeous cocky sex god trying to fly in and play Superman.

Lucas Wade knows a thing or two about running. He has secrets in his past so dark they’ve turned part of his heart black. He only truly cares about two people in the world, his mother and little brother Logan. With the past that he has, the last thing he wants or needs is a mouthy red head busting… read more.

Story (4.5 of 5 stars)

We thoroughly enjoyed the story as it brought us closer to Dani and Lucas (we read the previous book in the ‘series’ – Reflect Me –  although each really stands on it’s own (you can read our review here)). Dani is a spunky, fun character who knows she is not ready for a relationship, but would be delighted to share her bed with the very hot Lucas.

Lucas is equally uninterested in a relationship, but finds Dani utterly irresistible and a complete match to his desires and preferences when it comes to sex.

Hotness Factor (4.5 of 5 stars)

These two can’t keep their hands off each other and we rather enjoyed that aspect of this story. :- ) The sexual tension ran high throughout and the passion and heat practically leapt off the page. Definitely so HOT scenes here!

Overall (4.5 of  stars)

We loved this book and had trouble putting it down (stayed up too late too… ). And, the best and worst bittersweet moment came, as it always does with good stories and fun characters, as we finished we found ourselves missing Dani and Lucas and wanting more. Highly recommended!

Sin-cerely… ;- )
